Hope's Emma Schaefer named women's Most Valuable Swimmer, Calvin's Hannahbeth Magnussen Most Valuable Diver; Calvin's Julian Iturbe repeats as men's Most Valuable Swimmer, Hope's Kam Wilcox Most Valuable Diver
The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, in coordination with Calvin University athletics and the Southwest Region of Special Olympics Michigan, will host a ceremonial relay race to kick-off the 2020 MIAA Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by Hope Feb. 19-22.
The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has selected a record 762 programs from 480 institutions to the Scholar All-America Team for the Fall 2019 semester. The teams were selected on the basis of their Fall grade point averages and represent 17,685 student-athletes.
Calvin University junior and biology major Hannah Chao recently re-set a Calvin record in the 100 backstroke. Those that know Chao aren't surprised, because the Calvin swim program - and the university as a whole - has aided Chao by offering encouragement to pursue new ideas and opportunities.
