Calvin's Magnussen and Olivet's Deweyert Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

FREELAND, Mich. — Two MIAA student-athletes were recently selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women’s At-Large team for district six.

CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Division III Teams

Olivet College senior women’s golfer, Nicole Deweyert is an exercise science major graduating with a 3.98 cumulative grade point average. Deweyert was a four-time All-MIAA selection, earning first-team honors in 2017 and 2019 and second-team in 2016 and 2018. She was also named to the 2020 Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-Great Lakes team.

Calvin University junior diver, Hannabeth Magnussen is a biochemistry major earning a 3.89 cumulative grade point average. Magnussen was named the MIAA Most Valuable Diver in 2020 as she captured league titles in both the one and three-meter diving boards. As a qualifier for the NCAA DIII National Championship meet that did not take place, she was named as a Division III All-American by the College Swim Coaches Association of America.

As a member of the All-District team, Deweyert and Magnussen advance to the national ballot and are now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.

The criteria for nomination includes a 3.30 or higher cumulative grade point average and be a starter or important reserve. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, career statistics and honors were a part of the nomination this year instead of 2020 season statistics. The at-large division includes the sports of lacrosse, rifle, skiing, fencing, swimming and diving, tennis, golf, volleyball gymnastics, water polo, ice hockey, and wrestling.
