Men's Recap

Calvin fended off Albion to maintain a lead heading into the Saturday final of the 2019 MIAA Swimming and Diving Championship, but the Knights' lead is down to 15 points with six events remaining.

The evening started with a pair of NCAA B Cut relay efforts; along with Calvin's MIAA-record setting time of 1:29.14, Albion touched second in 1:29.94. The Calvin relay featured Ben Holstege, Sam Holstege, and Noah Holstege, along with Jared Britton.

Hope's Dan Clyde shattered a nine-year record in the 400 IM, winning with a time of 3:57.14 to win by over five seconds and record and NCAA B Cut time.

Albion's Nate Kozycki became a three-time MIAA Champion in the 100 Fly with an NCAA B Cut time of 48.45. Also earning NCAA B Cuts in the final were Calvin's Jared Britton (49.01), Albion's Evan Wonner (49.16), and Calvin's Ben Holstege (49.28).

Calvin's Julian Iturbe just missed hitting the second MIAA record in as many days for the sophomore, winning the 200 free in 1:38.87, good for an NCAA B Cut and just 0.5 seconds off the MIAA record.

In the 100 breast, Albion's Tyler Kimbrell twice posted an NCAA B Cut on Friday: first in prelims with a 56.00, and then in the final at 56.09. It was Kimbrell's third consecutive MIAA title in the 100 breast.

Calvin's Ben Holstege won his fifth individual championship and third in the 100 back with an NCAA B Cut of 49.22.
