Calvin's Jared Britton was a three-time winner during day two of the MIAA Swimming & Diving Championship, capturing the 50 free with an NCAA B Cut time of 20.52 while aiding the Calvin 200 free relay and 400 medley relay teams to wins as the Knights took a slim 316-283 lead over Hope through day two.

Fellow Knight Julian Iturbe set an MIAA record in the 500 free for Calvin's other swimming win on Thursday, touching first in 4:29.81 for an NCAA B Cut. 

Albion tallied two individual wins, as Jake Huttenlocher won the 200 IM with an NCAA B Cut time of 1:50.81 while Jake Burris was victorious in 1-meter diving, becoming the third diver in MIAA history to be a four-time champion on the 1-meter board. Joining Burris in scoring NCAA qualifying scores was the Hope tandem of Grant Williams and Brian Simonich.

Huttenlocher led three MIAA swimmers in posting NCAA B Cuts in the 200 IM, joined by Hope's Dan Clyde (1:50.87) and Calvin's Ben Holstege (1:51.31).

Women's Recap

Hope's Megan Peel and Emma Schaefer were each two-time winners Thursday, each winning an individual event while joining for an NCAA B Cut time on the winning 400 medley relay team to keep the Flying Dutch close through the second day of competition.

Peel won the 500 free in 5:03.12, while Schaefer followed up with a 2:06.79 in the 200 IM. Peel and Schaefer, along with Betsy Craig and Alli Eppinga, won the 400 medley relay in 3:51.10.

Calvin's depth of at least two swimmers in each individual A final, including four in the 500 free, kept the Knights in first place through the first two days. Emily Gunderson swam an NCAA B Cut in the 50 free (23.71), while Joselyn Smith added a second individual win with a victory on the 3-meter board.

The Calvin 200 free relay led a trio of NCAA B Cut times by the MIAA, winning with the team of Gunderson, Hannah Chao, Alyssa Oezer, and Anna Serino in 1:34.84. Albion was second in 1:34.91, while Hope took third in 1:35.20.

Women's divers posted four NCAA qualifying scores: Calvin's Smith, Kalamazoo's Nicki Bailey, Hope's Sarah Plohetski, and Calvin's Hannabeth Magnussen.
