Around the MIAA

Adrian

The Adrian College men's cross country team came in sixth place at the MIAA Championships last week at Eastern Hills Golf Club in Kalamazoo, Mich. last week. The Bulldogs were led by freshman Robert Diebold finishing in 10th place with a time of 26:01.4. His 10th place finish earned him All-MIAA Second Team honors, making him the first Adrian men's cross country runner to be named All-MIAA since 2014.


Albion

Albion has finished as the MIAA runner up the last three years, its best three-year streak in the league since 2002-04…First team runners Andrew Wittland (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Northern) and Adam Ditri (Novi) and second team performer Aaron Weimer (Holland/West Ottawa) gained all-MIAA status for the first time in their careers... Trey Cucuro (Whitmore Lake) is also a two-time all-MIAA performer. He was on the second team last year.


Alma

The Alma men's cross country team ran in the MIAA Championship races Saturday (Oct. 27) afternoon in Kalamazoo. The men took fifth place overall, where junior Luke Reed (Benzonia, Mich./Benzie Central) led the men with his 24th-place finish and race time of 26:47.3. 


No. 3 Calvin

Calvin posted the first perfect score in MIAA Championships history since 2009 and eight all-time with their effort Saturday. The Knights swept the top six spots to take the team title; Addison Smith was the meet's Most Valuable Runner.


Hope

The Hope College men's cross country team put together one of its best runs of the season en route to a fourth-place finish at the MIAA Championships on Saturday in Kalamazoo. The Flying Dutchmen's scoring group finished with 29 seconds and six places of each other for a total of 127 points. Senior Nathan Schloff (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) led Hope with a 22nd-place 8K time of 26 minutes, 49.1 seconds. Freshman Nick Hoffman (Holland, Mich./Holland) came in 24th at 27:00.3.


Kalamazoo

The Kalamazoo College men's cross country team finished eighth at the MIAA Championships at Eastern Hills Golf Club on Saturday. Jackson Kelly led the Hornets with a time of 27:30 to finish 44th overall in the 8K event. Preston Grossling with 73rd (28:21), Caleb Patton 79th (28:45), Austin Yunker 90th (29:10) and Sam Meyer 97th (29:36). The Hornets compete next at the NCAA III Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 10 in Shelbyville, Ind.


Olivet

The Olivet College men's cross country team finished in seventh-place at the MIAA Championships, ending the meet with 186 points, just four points behind sixth-place Adrian College and 36 points ahead of eighth-place Kalamazoo. Kyle Markley was 43rd with a season-best time of 27:27.9.
