Calvin Continues Streak with 32nd Consecutive MIAA Men's Cross Country Title

The Calvin men's cross country team turned in an emphatic effort as a group, claiming the top six finishes and posting a perfect score of 15 to win the 2018 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Cross Country Championship Saturday at Eastern Hills Golf Course in Kalamazoo, Mich.

The title effort was the 32nd consecutive championship for the Knights, and their eighth perfect score in program history; they are the only team in MIAA history to post a perfect score at the MIAAs.

Addison Smith broke from the Calvin pack that led much of the race to with the event in 25:09.3 and take home Most Valuable Runner honors. Following behind to score the sweep was Tyler Johnson, Jonathan Ellis, Justin Varineau, and Caleb Ferguson; Jamison Koeman placed sixth for the Knights as the sextet all earned First Team All-MIAA accolades.

The last perfect score at the MIAA Championship came in 2009. Calvin also posted 15s in 1993, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2007.
