Junior swimmer Greta Gidley (Franklin, Mich. / Mercy) was voted the 2024 MIAA Most Valuable Swimmer following her performance at the MIAA Swimming and Diving Championships after leading the Flying Dutch to the league title. Gidley participated in three relays and three individual races. The first championship event of the meet was the 800 freestyle relay, where Gidley led off the second-placing relay team with a split of 1:51.02, leading to a season-best time of 7 minutes, 29.40 seconds. Gidley was the third-leg swimmer (24.10 split) for the 200 medley relay, with a runner-up time of 1:42.03. The Flying Dutch ended the meet with a thrilling and record-setting finish in the 400 medley relay, where Gidley was the third-leg swimmer, delivering an MIAA-record time of 3:46.11. In her individual events, Gidley took home a runner-up finish and two golds. Gidley clocked a 51.07 in the 100-yard freestyle. Her first individual victory came from the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 55.08. To top off her MVP performance, Gidley repeated as an MIAA champion in the 200-individual medley in record-setting fashion. The junior broke MIAA and school records with a first-place swim of 2:00.79. Gidley passed her own meet record of 2:01.25 from last season and her own school record of 2:01.07.
