Junior swimmer David Bajwa (Potomac, MD / The Heights School) was voted the 2024 MIAA Most Valuable Swimmer after assisting the Knights to the MIAA Swimming and Diving Championship title. Bajwa participated in three winning relays and notched three individual victories. On Thursday, Bajwa opened the competition as the lead-off swimmer of the 800 freestyle relay, which set a new Calvin and MIAA record of 6:37.94 and ranks Calvin 10th nationally. Bajwa was the anchor in the 400 medley relay with a split of 43.34, helping the Calvin A relay team finish first, setting a new MIAA record with a time of 3:13.4. In the 200 medley relay, Bajwa was the lead-off with a split of 22.47, which assisted in the knights' relay team finishing first and setting another MIAA record. The Knights also put together a post-meet time trial 400 freestyle relay, where Bajwa led off to help produce a school-record time of 2:57.46 that ranks fourth nationally. In his individual events, Bajwa took home the gold in the 100 backstroke with a time of 47.69 and in the 50 freestyle in 20.09. To cap off his MVP performance, Bajwa won the 200 backstroke in a time of 1:45.42, but earlier in the morning during prelims for this event, he set a new Calvin and MIAA record with a time of 1:45.25.
