2018-19 MIAA Year In Review - Men's Basketball

Among the highlights from the 2018-19 season:

- The Trine men's basketball team secured their first-ever Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's basketball championship in 2019, posting a league-best 11-3 record.

- Albion emerged as the MIAA Tournament champion, aided by a half-court buzzer-beater in the semifinals to defeat Olivet. In the MIAA Tournament championship game, the Britons swapped leads with Trine before prevailing, 76-73, to earn Albion's first NCAA Championship berth since 2005.

- Trine's Pete Smith and Marcus Winters garnered superlative honors in 2019, with Smith being named MIAA Most Valuable Player while Winters was selected Defensive Player of the Year. It marked the first time in MIAA history the same individual was named the Defensive Player of the Year in men's basketball and football.
