Saint Mary’s promotes a life of intellectual vigor, aesthetic appreciation, religious sensibility, and social responsibility.
Founded in 1844 by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Saint Mary’s College’s is a four-year, Catholic, residential, women’s liberal arts college offering five bachelor’s degrees and more than 30 major areas of study. Saint Mary’s mission is to educate women, develop their talents, and prepare them to make a difference in the world.
The college’s supportive community fosters confidence, ethical leadership, and strong academic success: 80 percent of our students perform service by the time they graduate, higher than the national average of 55 percent; 50 percent of students study abroad; and 93 percent of our graduates earn a degree in four years. Our small class sizes and outstanding faculty enable students to establish mentor relationships with faculty and participate in research and experiential learning opportunities that aren’t typically found in undergraduate settings.
Saint Mary's sits along the Saint Joseph River, just north of the city of South Bend. The city of South Bend offers additional social and cultural opportunities, as well as numerous options for practicums in a variety of areas, including business, education, nursing, and social work.
