NORTON, Ohio -- The Calvin University women's cross country program won the 2023 NCAA Great Lakes Region Championship on Saturday, November 11, at Silvercreek Metropark in Norton, Ohio.
Hope College junior Maddy Struck and Kalamazoo College junior Paige Anderson were the first runners from the conference to cross the finish line at 20:49.2 in third and fourth place, respectively. Calvin University junior Natalie Tebben (21:04.3) and freshman Knight Hailey Erickson (21:08.8) also finished the 6K in the top ten.
Hope senior Rebecca Markham was the next MIAA runner to cross the finish line in fourteenth place (21:20.2) and was trailed by Calvin sophomore Sophie Bull in sixteenth place (21:24.3). Junior Knight Jenna Allman completed the 6K in 21:34.0 to clinch 23rd place, followed by Hope senior Olivia Quillan in 25th with a time of 21:35.7. Senior Elizabeth Gorman represented the Flying Dutch in the No. 30 spot after clocking in at 21:44.8.
Senior Emme Koutz of Adrian College was the first Bulldog to cross the finish line at 21:49.9 for a 32nd-place finish. Calvin junior Cath Kortman earned a 34th-place finish with a time of 21:52.8.
Trine University sophomore Bailey Puckett led the Thunder in 40th place (22:02.2) and was followed immediately by Hope sophomore Molly Durow (22:04.2).
Both Hope junior Janie DeGroot (22:12.1) and Kalamazoo College junior Alison Hankins (22:18.6) also finished in the top 50.
The Flying Dutch concluded the NCAA Regional meet in third place with 113 points, followed by Trine in tenth place with 274 points, Kalamazoo in twelfth place with 331 points, and Saint Mary's College in sixteenth place with 508 points. Albion College (688 points), Alma College (786 points), and Adrian (836 points) all finished in the top 30, with The University of Olivet concluding the meet in 33rd place.
The NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship selections will be released on Sunday, November 12, at www.ncaa.com.
