Hope College's Mark Northuis Deemed 2023 MIAA Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) proudly announces Hope College's Mark Northuis as the 2023 Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

This prestigious accolade is a coaches vote based on the achievements of their colleagues both during regular- and post-season competition.

Northuis was selected as the 2023 Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year after leading the Flying Dutch to a share of the MIAA title and three top-six finishes individually, including 2023 MIAA Most Valuable Runner Rebecca Markham.  This year's co-championship title was Hope's eighth league championship in a row which is a program best for the Flying Dutch.

Under the leadership of Northuis, the Hope women's team is currently ranked seventeenth in the nation.

The Hope alum (1982) is in his 35th year at the helm of the cross country program.  The Flying Dutch finished third or higher in the conference standings every year during his tenure.
