Calvin and Hope Share 2023 MIAA Women's Cross Country Championship Title; All-MIAA Honorees Announced

HOLLAND, Mich. -- The Calvin University and Hope College women's cross country teams tied-for-first to share the 2023 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship title on Saturday, October 28, with final scores of 33.

Hope senior Rebecca Markham concluded the 6K with a time of 21:03.8 to be crowned the 2023 Most Valuable Runner.  Markham is now a two-time First Team All-MIAA honoree after earning all-conference recognition in 2021.

Freshman Knight Hailey Erickson served as the runner-up after crossing the finish line in 21:09.6, followed by junior teammate Jenna Allman in third place (21:17.9).  Kalamazoo College junior Paige Anderson earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 21:25.6 and was trailed by Hope junior Maddy Struck in fifth place with a time of 21:36.7.

Allman became a three-time All-MIAA honoree this season with her spot on the First Team.  Six runners are now two-time All-MIAA honorees including Calvin's Natalie Tebben, Hope's Elizabeth Gorman, Markham, and Maddy Struck, Kalamazoo's Anderson, and Trine's Lydia Randolph.

Trine finished the 6K in third place with 80 points.  Kalamazoo College and Saint Mary's College round out the top five teams with 111 points and 138 points, respectively.
