Eighteen MIAA Women's Cross Country Individuals and Nine Teams Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Accolades

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- All nine women's cross country teams, along with eighteen student-athletes, from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) earned All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday, January 26.

Team awards were given to Adrian College, Albion College, Alma College, Calvin University, Hope College, Kalamazoo College, Olivet College, Saint Mary's College, and Trine University.  The Flying Dutch led the conference with a grade-point average of 3.75.

Overall, there were 212 programs who were named All-Academic Teams for their efforts during the 2022 season.  In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.

In addition, eighteen student-athletes from the MIAA were deemed 2022 NCAA Division III All-Academic Athletes.

Overall, there were 383 women from 137 different institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2022 season.  In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Calvin and Hope were both represented by five student-athletes on the Women's All-Academic list.  The Knights named to the All-Academic list include Jenna Allman, Sienna Ruiter-Diaz, Delaney Sall, Natalie Tebben, and Brynne Winiarski.  The Flying Dutch receiving honors include Ellie Jankowski, Rebecca Markham, Anna Mason, Madison Stern, and Ana Tucker.  Trine placed for student-athletes on the list, including Carol Haldeman, Brianna Medcalf, Ana Parker, and Lydia Randolph.  Kalamazoo's Paige Anderson, Alison Hankins, and Anna Varitek earned All-Academic recognition from the USTFCCCA, along with Albion's Megan McCulloch.
