Hope's Ana Tucker Notches a Victory at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Cross Country Championship

HOLLAND, Mich. -- The Hope College women's cross country program won the 2022 NCAA Great Lakes Region Championship on Saturday, November 12, at the Three Fires Golf Club in Holland, Michigan.  In addition, Hope College senior Ana Tucker won the regional title with her first-place finish in the 6K.

Tucker -- the 2022 MIAA Most Valuable Runner and three-time All-MIAA honoree -- led the pack of Division III Great Lakes runners with a time of 20:53.8, finishing exactly 20 seconds ahead of the second-place participant.  Calvin University sophomore Jenna Allman (21:19.6) and junior teammate Sienna Ruiter-Diaz (21:45.3) also completed the race in the top 10, finishing in third place and sixth place, respectively.

Albion College senior Megan McCulloch was the next MIAA runner to cross the finish line in 11th place (21:53.4) and was followed directly by Calvin sophomore Natalie Tebben in 12th place (21:53.4).  Senior Ellie Jankowski of Hope completed the 6K in a time of 21:54.9 to clinch the 14th spot, followed by Trine junior Carol Haldeman in 16th place with a time of 22:07.5.

Sophomore Paige Anderson of Kalamazoo College was the first Hornet to cross the finish line at 22:16.3 for a 22nd-place finish.  Hope junior Rebecca Markham claimed 26th place (22:20.5) and was trailed by Calvin junior Delaney Sall in 29th place (22:23.3).

Hope senior Anna Mason (32nd - 22:23.2), Trine sophomore Lydia Randolph (33rd - 22:28.7), Thunder junior Ana Parker (36th - 22:36.9), Kalamazoo sophomore Alison Hankins (43rd - 22:47.2), and Trine senior Brianna Medcalf (45th - 22:47.6) all finished in the top 50.

Calvin finished the NCAA Regional meet in second place with 106 points, followed by Hope in third place with 127 points and Trine in sixth place with 195 points.  Kalamazoo (334 points), Albion (437 points), and Saint Mary's (584 points) also finished in the top 20.

The NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship selection show will take place on Sunday, November 13, at www.ncaa.com.
