19 MIAA Women's Cross Country Individuals and Nine Teams Receive USTFCCCA All-Academic Accolades

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- All nine women's cross country teams, along with 19 student-athletes, from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) earned All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday, January 27.

Team awards were given to Adrian College, Albion College, Alma College, Calvin University, Hope College, Kalamazoo College, Olivet College, Saint Mary's College, and Trine University.  Olivet led the conference with a grade-point average of 3.78.

Overall, there were 163 programs who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2021 season.  In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.

In addition, 19 student-athletes from the MIAA were deemed 2021 NCAA Division III All-Academic Athletes.

There were 203 women from 105 different institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2021 season.  In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Hope was represented by six student-athletes on the Women's All-Academic list, including Jacinda Cole, Ellie Jankowski, Rebecca Markham, Anna Mason, Ana Tucker, and Heleyna Tucker.  Calvin had five runners earn All-Academic honors: Jenna Allman, Sadie Heeringa, Catherine Kortman, Sienna Ruiter-Diaz, and Delaney Sall.  Trine also placed five student-athletes on the list, including Chloe Brittain, Evie Bultemeyer, Chloe Goodrich, Carol Haldeman and Lydia Randolph.  Albion's Samantha Bieth and Megan McCulloch earned All-Academic recognition from the USTFCCCA, along with Kalamazoo's Paige Anderson.
