MIAA Women's Cross Country Week #5 Wrap-Up

Fresh off their performances at the MIAA Jamboree last weekend, six teams continued to build momentum through the middle of the 2016 fall season. This week's notables include:

• Bolstered by the second-place effort by Erin Herrmann (Sr., Wheaton, Ill.) and her time of 21:20.49, Hope won the 39-team 2016 Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic Saturday in Louisville, Ky. All five of Hope's runners finished in the top 31 to outscore second-place Bates by five points. Also finishing in the top 25 for the MIAA were Albion's Jessica Shaw (Sr., Allegan, Mich.), who finished 8th in 21:47.71, and Hope's Emily Joosse (Sr., Chillicothe, Ohio) 21st-place with a time of 22:30.77. Hope's Jessica Gaines (Sr., Sterling Heights, Mich.) crossed in 22:31.30, good for 23rd overall.

• Against a field of NCAA Division I and Division II programs, Calvin finished 13th at the Joe Piane Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame. Leading Calvin was Lauren Strohbehn (Sr., Stillwater, Minn.), who finished the 5K race in 17:55.2, good for 37th place.


• Adrian took 17th overall at the Mike Woods Geneseo Cross Country Invitational Oct. 1 in Castile, N.Y. Olivia Vasiloff (Jr., Vermillion, Ohio) was the top finisher for the Bulldogs, taking 58th overall with a time of 24:00.4.
