All-MIAA - Volleyball - 2022

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- Head coaches from the nine Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's (MIAA) member institutions that sponsor volleyball voted on All-MIAA awards following the conclusion of the 2022 regular season.

Calvin University senior outside hitter Heidi Westra was voted the 2022 MIAA Most Valuable Player after leading the Knights to the regular-season championship title with an unblemished conference record (8-0).  In league play only, Westra contributed 4.06 kills per set (73 total), 4.9 points per set (89.0 total), 0.56 service aces per set (10 total), and finished with a hitting percentage of .301.  Westra was selected as MIAA Volleyball Player of the Week four times this season.  She is now a three-time All-MIAA honoree.

Sophomore Mya Minjares of Adrian College was voted the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year.  Minjares assisted the Bulldogs to a 5-3 mark in league play which seeded Adrian fourth in the MIAA Volleyball Tournament.  In conference competition alone, Minjares concluded the regular season as the MIAA's leader in digs (150) and digs per set (5.56).  She was selected as the MIAA Volleyball Specialist of the Week on September 26.  Minjares became a two-time All-MIAA recipient this season.

Hope College freshman setter Lauren Lee was named the 2022 MIAA Freshman Player of the Year.  Lee helped the Flying Dutch to a league record of 7-1 this season.  In conference play alone, Lee finished first in the MIAA with 303 assists and 11.22 assists per set, while also contributing 18 service aces (0.67 service aces per set).  She was chosen as the GameChanger/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week on October 11 and was selected as the MIAA Volleyball Specialist of the Week twice this year.

Fifth-year senior middle blocker Chloe Webber of Albion College received the 2022 Senior Impact Award.  According to Webber's coach, she has made a huge impact as a leader, helped shaped their culture, and left a legacy of what embodies a player in the Briton program.  Webber holds a 3.61 grade-point average, has been on the Dean's List five times, is a Economics and Management Scholarship recipient, and is a part of the Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity.  She has done multiple internships and was offered a position with Ernst and Young before the beginning of her senior year, which she will start in the summer of 2023.  Webber has also been a part of multiple community service projects including Albion's kids volleyball clinics, the SAAC Winter Carnival, Alpha XI Delta projects with Kids and Stuff Children's Museum, serving as a mentor at Harrington Elementary, and as the Vice President of Finance for her sorority and Panhel.

Calvin's Aubrey Wrubel became a four-time All-MIAA honoree this season, while Webber, Westra, and Hope's Charlotte Brecht all received all-conference recognition for a third time.  The list of two-time All-MIAA players includes Minjares, Albion's Olivia Alexander and Mariah Brenz, and Saint Mary's Colleen McCarthy.
