volleyball Splits at MIAA-NCAC Crossover

Olivet, MI – Alma Volleyball headed to Olivet College to take part in the MIAA-NCAC Challenge. The Scots played a pair of matches, splitting on the day.

Oberlin 3, Alma 1

The Scots opened the day against Oberlin College. The Scots dropped the first 2 sets in the contest, winning the third set, before dropping the fourth to end the match. Madison Neu led the game with 15 kills, also adding 2 block assists. Megan Greenup tossed 20 assists, with Ashley Miller adding 17. Callie Smith served up a game high 4 aces, and totaled 1.5 blocks as well. Defensively, Alma was led by Kolbey Boyd, who recorded a game high 17 digs in the match.

Alma 3, Kenyon 2

In Alma's second game of the day, the Scots took on Kenyon College. This one would go the distance, with the Scots coming out on top 3-2. Alma won the first set, before dropping two straight, and then winning out the match. Madison Bott led Alma's offense with 15 kills, followed by closely by Ashlyn Michalski (13), and Callie Smith (12). Greenup and Miller each recorded 25 assists in game 2, tied for a game high. Bott was also excellent from the service line, scoring 4 aces for the Scots to contribute to her 21 total points that she scored on the day. Boyd led the team in digs with 33.
