Calvin's Schriemer and Hope's Otto and Westra Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District® Volleyball Team

Calvin University's Anna Schriemer and Hope College's McKenna Otto and Tracy Westra were all named to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® 6 Volleyball Team.  All three players will advance to the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America®.

The 2021 Academic All‐District® Women's Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.  First‐team Academic All‐District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All‐America® ballot. First‐, second‐ and third‐team Academic All‐America® honorees will be announced in mid‐December.

Calvin senior Anna Schriemer boasts a grade-point average of 3.84 as a Psychology major.  Schriemer plans to become a physician's assistant.  The setter assisted the Knights to the MIAA Tournament title, the NCAA Division III Regional crown, and a spot in the 2021 NCAA Tournament's final match.  Schriemer was named to the All-MIAA First Team in the Spring of 2021 and is a three-time member of the MIAA Honor Roll.

McKenna Otto is majoring in Biomedical/Biomechanical Engineering with a 3.68 GPA.  The Hope senior middle blocker helped the Flying Dutch to the 2021 MIAA regular-season title and a spot in the NCAA DIII Regional Final.  Otto is a four-time First Team All-MIAA honoree and a three-time member of the MIAA Honor Roll.  For the second time in her career, Otto was voted Second Team All-America by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) this year.  Additionally, Otto was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Second Team last spring.

Hope senior Tracy Westra has a 3.78 grade-point average as an Environmental Engineering major.  Westra was voted the 2021 MIAA Most Valuable Player after leading the Flying Dutch to the regular-season crown.  She is also a two-time All-MIAA honoree and a three-time member of the MIAA Honor Roll.  The senior setter was selected to the AVCA's All-America First Team this season.

CoSIDA's NCAA Division III District 6 includes Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.  Members of CoSIDA from the district vote on Academic All-District® honors.  Student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
