Hope Clinches the Win vs. Calvin for the MIAA Volleyball Tournament Championship

In a title match between first-seeded Calvin and second-seeded Hope, the Flying Dutch notched a 3-1 victory over the Knights in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Volleyball Tournament championship match.  This is Hope's fourth tournament title in program history.

After dropping the first set 25-16, the Flying Dutch won the next three sets for the win.  Hope had a 55-48 edge in kills, a 52-44 lead in attacks and a 72-62 edge in digs.

2021 MIAA Freshman of the Year Maggie Whermeyer had a game-high 26 digs, while teammate Ana Grunewald led with a game-best 18 kills.

On Calvin's side, 2021 Most Valuable Player of the Year Heidi Westra had a team-high 16 kills and Anna Schriemer totaled 19 digs and four service aces.

 

For the match, Hope had a .252 kill percentage and Calvin a .168 percentage.
