Calvin, Hope to Compete in NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship

For the second consecutive year, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association will feature two teams competing in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship. Calvin, the MIAA regular season and tournament champion, along with nationally-ranked Hope, will represent the MIAA on the national stage. Calvin will serve as one of eight Regional host sites.

Calvin (28-1), the 2016 NCAA National Champions and last year's national runner-up, are making their 14th consecutive NCAA Championship appearance. The Knights will face DePauw - a team the Knights challenged in the MIAA-NCAC Crossover Challenge earlier this season - in the First Round.

Hope (25-7) earned an at-large berth for the second consecutive year; the Flying Dutch are making their 16th appearance in the national championship, and were the 2014 NCAA National Champions. Hope will challenge UT-Dallas in the First Round at Calvin's Van Noord Arena.

The 64-team field will compete in Regional play Nov. 15-17 at eight host institutions; the eight teams that advance out of Regionals will be re-seeded and travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for Quarterfinal, Semifinal, and Championship rounds Nov 21-23 at the U.S. Cellular Center.

An MIAA team has participated in the NCAA Semifinals or Championship game in eight of the last 10 years, including the last three seasons.
