LEXINGTON, Ky. -- All nine Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) volleyball teams earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2019-20 academic year.
The award honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale. Among a record 1,326 teams recognized by the AVCA for 2019-20, 231 of the teams that won the award were NCAA Division III members.
This is the second time in MIAA history that all nine member institutions maintained a 3.30 cumulative GPA; the first being the 2018-19 academic year.
Notable Achievements:
- Adrian was honored with the AVCA award for its sixth straight year.
- Albion tallied it's 12th overall honor and eighth consecutive year as an AVCA Team Academic Award team.
- Alma has received academic recognition for seven straight years and eight overall.
- Calvin's program was honored for the 11th consecutive year.
- Hope earned academic recognition for its 11th straight year and 12th overall.
- Kalamazoo tallied its 20th overall AVCA award and its seventh consecutive award.
- Olivet made the academic list for the fifth time last year.
- Saint Mary's extended its succession to 10 consecutive years on the list and 12th overall.
- Trine tallied its eighth straight AVCA Team Academic Award for 2019-20.
