Hope's Otto Named Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week

On Tuesday (Oct. 29), Hope College sophomore McKenna Otto was named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week.

Otto averaged 4.53 kills and 1.20 blocks per set, helping Hope win three times out of four matches. The Flying Dutchmen ended a seven-match losing streak to No. 2 Calvin, posting their 10th win in 60 matches. In that game, Otto had a game-highs of 17 kills and seven blocks and hit .552 in Hope's 3-1 non-conference win Oct. 25.

Otto was the match-high in kills for all four outings, including 16 against No. 1 Chicago Oct. 26 and 16 against Saint Mary's Oct. 22 in an MIAA matchup. Otto also collected 19 kills and five blocks during the four-set victory against Alma.

On Monday, Otto was named the MIAA Volleyball Athlete of the Week.

Otto is the fifth Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week in program history. The last player to receive this honor was Lauren Hazekemp on October 7, 2014.
