Calvin's DeVries Repeats as AVCA Great Lakes Region Player of the Year

LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the second consecutive year, five Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association volleyball standouts garnered All-Great Lakes Region honors Nov. 14 from the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Calvin's Sarah DeVries repeated as AVCA Great Lakes Region Player of the Year, while teammate Aubrey Wrubel was named Freshman of the Year. Joining DeVries on the 14-player Great Lakes Region team were Calvin's Kelsey Smith and Hope's McKenna Otto. Smith and Otto, both sophomores, earned All-Region honores for the second consecutive year; DeVries' inclusion on the team marks the third consecutive honor for the senior.

Joining Wrubel on the Honorable Mention listing was Hope's Ana Grunewald, a sophomore.

The AVCA will announce All-America honorees next week and reveal the AVCA Division III Player of the Year prior to the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championships.
