Calvin's DeVries, Kamp Honored as Google Cloud Academic All-Americans in Volleyball

AUSTIN, Texas - On Wednesday, the Calvin College volleyball tandem of Sarah DeVries (Jr., MB/S, Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Anna Kamp (Sr., OH, Orland Park, Ill.) earned high honors for academic and athletic prowess in 2018, as both were named Google Cloud First-Team Academic All-Americans®, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

DeVries, who owns a 3.85 grade-point average towards a degree in nursing, was named the 2018 AVCA Division III National Player of the Year and the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Most Valuable Defensive Player during Calvin's 33-2 season that culminated with an appearance in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship title match.

Kamp owns a 3.76 grade-point average in business administration and human resources. The two-time MIAA Most Valuable Player and the 2017 AVCA Division III National Player of the Year helped the Knights win both the MIAA regular season and tournament titles in 2018.

The Division III Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Division III Academic All-America® teams. Student-athletes must have sophomore academic standing at their institutions and have a cumulative grade-point average at 3.30 or higher and been a First-Team Academic All-District® selection to move onto the national ballot.
