LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced Monday (July 22) its list of teams that earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 academic year. After setting a national record of 977 programs honored across all levels of interscholastic and intercollegiate competition levels, AVCA member coaches mentored 1,125 Team Academic Award winning programs.

Among the organization's record-breaking 973 programs and 173 at the NCAA Division III level, eight MIAA programs achieved the AVCA's high academic standard.

For the first time in MIAA history, all nine member institutions maintained a 3.30 cumulative team GPA for the 2018-19 academic year. After Adrian and Hope were the lone MIAA programs to rank in the top 25 academically of NCAA Division III programs of AVCA members last academic year, Calvin and Olivet joined the top 25 teams to earn Team Academic Honor Roll accolades.

The AVCA recognized 175 NCAA Division III programs.

Other MIAA notables include Albion's 11th overall honor and seventh consecutive year as an AVCA Team Academic Award team; Calvin's program was honored for the eighth consecutive year; and Saint Mary's extended their succession to nine consecutive years on the list and 11th overall.

Teams must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 during the school year.
