• Albion went 2-1 during the season's penultimate week of regular season action with a key 3-2 win at Saint Mary's Oct. 20. In that match, the Britons battled back from a 2-1 deficit thanks to Kelsey Gustafson (So., OH, Armada, Mich.) and her 24 kills.
• #4 Calvin notched two MIAA wins to not only remain perfect on the season in conference play, but to set up Tuesday's contest at home against Hope for the outright MIAA title. The Knights tallied back-to-back sweeps in 3-0 wins over Alma Oct. 17 and Kalamazoo Oct. 20.
• Hope recovered from a 3-0 home loss to Saint Mary's Oct. 20 with two MIAA victories to stay in second place in the league standings.
• Saint Mary's posted a 3-0 win at Hope Oct. 20, their first sweep of Hope since joining the MIAA in 1997. The Belles held Hope to a negative hitting percentage for the three-set victory. It was part of a 2-1 week for Saint Mary's to stay in the top half of the league standings.
• Trine earned two wins to stay in the mix for an MIAA postseason berth with home victories against Olivet Oct. 17 and Adrian Oct. 20.
• Earning MIAA Athlete of the Week honors for Oct. 23 were:
- Player: Kelsey Gustafson, Albion
- Specialist: Grace VanDorn, Albion
• In the Oct. 17 release of the AVCA Division III poll, Calvin moved up to #4 nationally, while Hope continues to receive votes.
