Calvin's Lodewyk, Saint Mary's Buck Named CoSIDA Academic All-District in Volleyball

Two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association volleyball student-athletes were recognized Nov. 16 for their achievement in competition and in the classroom with their selection to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District NCAA Division III District 6 and District 7 teams.

Calvin's Jenna Lodewyk (Sr., S, Villa Park, Ill.) and Saint Mary's Leah Buck (Sr., MH, Mattoon, Ill.) were voted to their respective All-District teams and are now eligible for Academic All-America accolades.

Lodewyk, who has a 3.88 grade-point average in business, was a second-team Academic All-American in 2016 and makes her third appearance on the Academic All-District team. Lodewyk and the Knights were the 2017 MIAA regular season and tournament champions and will play in the national semifinals Friday.

Buck, who boasts a 3.98 GPA in chemistry and chemical engineering, is a six-time Dean's List honoree and aided the Belles in finishing third in the MIAA in 2017 with a 16-10 record overall.

CoSIDA's NCAA Division III District 6 includes Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin; District 7 encompasses Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Members of CoSIDA from the district vote on Academic All-District honors. Student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
