Three teams were unbeaten against MIAA foes on the week, with Calvin (3-0), Hope (2-0), and Saint Mary's (2-0) stayed in the top four in conference standings:
• #1 Calvin did not drop a set in three MIAA wins, keeping the Knights perfect on the season. The attacking tandem of Laura Danhoff (Sr., MH, Wilard, Ohio) and Anna Kamp (So., OH, Orland Park, Ill.) combined for 74 kills in the three matches, with Danhoff swinging for 14 kills against Trine Oct. 8 while Kamp notched 13 against both Albion Oct. 7 and Trine. Jenna Lodewyk (Jr., S, Villa Park, Ill.) dished out 91 assists on the week.
• #5 Hope also was perfect in MIAA play, defeating Kalamazoo Oct. 4, 3-1, and Alma Oct. 7, 3-0. Against Kalamazoo, Vanessa Reyhout (So., OH, Freeport, Mich.) swung for a career-high 13 kills to lead the Dutch. In Hope's three-set victory over Alma, Courtney Van Houzen (Sr., MB, Traverse City, Mich.) had an attack percentage of .500 on the way to 13 kills.
• Saint Mary's was perfect against MIAA opponents, defeating Trine Oct. 4 and Adrian Oct. 8 to stay in the top four in the league standings. The Bells rallied against Adrian, trailing late in the fourth set to take a five-set victory on the road; McKenzie Todd (Jr., LS, Monroe, Mich.) had a career-high 17 kills to go with 18 digs. In an in-state battle with Trine midweek, Meaghan Gibbons (Sr., LS, Dallas, Texas) and Rachel Bonek (Jr., RS, Buchanan, Mich.) each had 14 kills in the four-set win.
• Adrian went 2-2 on the week, including a 2-1 mark against MIAA foes. In their 3-1 win over Trine Oct. 7, Olivia Welch (So., OH, Vicksburg, Mich.) led the way with 12 kills while Haley Mellon (Jr., DS, Adrian, Mich.) finished with 21 digs. Welch also had a match-high 12 kills in Adrian's 3-1 win over Albion to go with team bests of 20 digs and four service aces.
