No. 11 Hope Volleyball Closes Regular Season With Sweep Of Olivet

The 11th-ranked Hope College volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with a 25-12, 25-15, 25-18 sweep at Olivet on Friday.

Now the Flying Dutch are waiting to see who their opponent is in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament.

Hope (23-5, 14-2) will play in the semifinals at top-seeded Calvin on Friday, Nov. 6. The four-team field will be set on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Against Olivet, junior outside hitter Sarah Feldpausch of White Cloud, Michigan (White Cloud HS) topped the Flying Dutch with 12 kills in their ninth consecutive victory.

Sophomore outside hitter Haley Muller of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian HS) chipped in 10 kills.

Senior setter Lauren Hazekamp of Fruitport, Michigan (Fruitport HS) recorded 42 assists and 14 digs.

Junior libero Alexis Thompson of Monroe, Michigan (St. Mary Catholic Central HS) led Hope with 17 kills.

Three teams have 8-7 league records and are vying to join Hope and Calvin in the MIAA Tournament: Alma, Adrian and Trine. Saint Mary's is one game back.

All four teams are in action on Saturday: Adrian at Alma, Trine at Calvin, Saint Mary's at Albion. The winner of the Adrian-Alma match will advance and leave one spot to be decided between the loser, Saint Mary's and Trine.
