Adrian blocks Albion

ALBION, Mich. - Albion College was denied on four opportunities to secure the third set and it went on to fall to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Adrian College in four sets at Kresge Gymnasium Tuesday night.

Adrian won the match 25-21, 21-25, 29-27, 25-19.

Cassadine Reed terminated two points and assisted on a block as Adrian jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the third set. Jessica Konieczny helped Albion mount a comeback, producing a kill and joining Stephanie Thurner on a block. Trailing 19-14, Albion scored three in a row to trim the deficit to two as Halle Thom and Maria Pregenzer terminated points. Albion later scored four in a row to serve for the set at 24-23, but it never won the final point.

Albion never held the lead in the fourth set.

Taylor Rosenthal led the Britons with 13 kills, but she and her teammates were slowed by an Adrian squad that put up 12 blocks.

Reed assisted on eight blocks in addition to placing a solo block and 10 kills. Jordan Brisson led all players with 14 kills. Margo Joubran chipped in with 10 kills for the Bulldogs.

Albion will make its final road trip of the season Friday night when it squares off against MIAA rival Kalamazoo College.
