No. 10 Hope Volleyball Sweeps Saint Mary's On Senior Day

The 10th-ranked Hope College volleyball team sent a successful senior class out on a winning note in its final regular-season home match.

The Flying Dutch swept Saint Mary's 25-23, 25-16, 25-21 on Saturday at DeVos Fieldhouse.

Hope improved to 21-5 overall and 12-2 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play by matching its season-high with a seven-match win streak. The Flying Dutch clinched the second seed for the Nov. 6-7 MIAA Tournament at Calvin College.

Junior middle hitter Courtney Van Houzen of Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City West HS), led Hope with a match-high 10 kills.

The Flying Dutch honored six seniors before the match, including five players: setter Lauren Hazekamp of Fruitport, Michigan (Fruitport HS), libero Jayne Kessel of Byron Center, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), outside hitter Callie Kostrzewa of Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City Christian HS), libero Allie Mitchell of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Eastern HS), and setter Jamie Rogalski of Munster, Indiana (Munster HS). Student assistant coach Tom Doherty also was recognized.

Hazekamp totaled 29 assists against Saint Mary's (13-11, 6-7 MIAA). Mitchell had 14 digs.

Hope returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Kalamazoo. Start time is 7 p.m. There are two regular-season matches remaining.
