No. 13 Hope Volleyball Tops Carthage, Bluffton At Midwest Invitational

The 13th-ranked Hope College volleyball team opened the 2015 Midwest Invitational with wins against 11th-ranked Carthage, Wisconsin and Bluffton, Ohio on Friday in Grand Rapids.

The Flying Dutch improved to 16-5 overall.

Sophomore outside hitter Haley Muller of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian HS), recorded double-digit kills in each match at Calvin College.

Muller totaled a match-high 11 kills during a 25-18, 25-17, 25-20 decision over Carthage (20-5).

Junior outside hitter Sarah Feldpausch of White Cloud, Michigan (White Cloud HS), chipped in nine kills. Senior setter Lauren Hazekamp of Fruitport, Michigan (Fruitport HS), collected 36 assists.

Muller netted 10 kills during a 25-12, 25-13, 23-25, 25-12 decision against Bluffton (14-8).

Muller was one of five Hope players to reach double-digits in kills during the match.

Feldpausch and junior middle blocker Courtney Van Houzen of Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City West HS) shared the team lead with 11 kills.

Freshmen outside hitters Vanessa Reynhout of Freeport, Michigan (Lakewood HS), and Katie Rietberg of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS), had 10 kills apiece.

Hope returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 17 with matches against ninth-ranked Eastern, Pennsylvania at 10 a.m. and No. 18 Clarkson, N.Y. at 2 p.m.
