No. 14 Hope Volleyball Claims Road Sweep At Alma

The Hope College volleyball team can turn its attention to a rematch with Calvin next week after sweeping Alma on Saturday.

The 25-17, 25-20, 25-20 win boosted the 14th-ranked Flying Dutch to 14-4 overall and 9-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.

Hope stayed one game behind MIAA-leading Calvin by extending its win streak to seven matches. The Flying Dutch host their rival on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse.

Against Alma, Hope used a balanced attack that included eight kills apiece from junior outside hitter Sarah Feldpausch of White Cloud, Michigan (White Cloud HS), and sophomore Haley Muller of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian HS).

Junior middle hitter Courtney Van Houzen of Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City West HS), collected seven kills.

Freshman middle hitter Vanessa Reynhout of Freeport, Michigan (Lakewood HS), chipped in five kills, while freshman Katie Rietberg of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS), had four. 

Senior setter Lauren Hazekamp of Fruitport, Michigan (Fruitport HS), contributed 30 assists, a game-high 17 digs and four kills.
