Adrian turns back Albion in five sets

ADRIAN, Mich. – Stephanie Thurner produced a season-high 18 kills and Halle Thom chipped in with 12 for the Albion College volleyball team in a five-set loss to Adrian College.

Albion tied the match by winning the second and fourth sets, but Adrian pulled away with a five point scoring run in the fifth set. Jordan Brisson and Sydney Martines had two kills apiece in the Bulldogs' critical stretch.

Albion pulled within two points on three occasions, but Adrian scored three in a row to move the score to 14-9.

Thurner hit .213 with eight errors in 47 attempts. She also knocked down a pair of blocks.

Thom hit .257 with three errors in 35 attempts.

Lauren Outwater finished with eight kills and eight digs and Jessica Konieczny finished with seven kills and a pair of blocks.

Adrian had three players reach double figures in kills. Olivia Welch terminated 16 points and Brisson and Martines had 15 each.

Albion, 11-5 overall and 2-4 against league rivals, continues league play with a Wednesday match at Saint Mary's College.
