Hope Volleyball Breaks Two School Records, Beats Adrian In Four Sets

Two school records fell as the 14th-ranked Hope College volleyball team defeated visiting Adrian College in four sets on Tuesday.

The Flying Dutch won 25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 25-13 while recording 70 kills to pass the previous four-set match record in a 25-point set format of 69 against Ohio Northern in 2009.

Hope (8-4 overall) also broke the team assist record with 68 against Adrian. The previous mark of 67 was reached against Ohio Northern six years ago.

Four Flying Dutch players reached double figures in kills as they raised their league record to 4-1.

Sophomore outside hitter Haley Muller of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian HS), posted a match-high 17 kills.

Junior outside hitter Sarah Feldpausch of White Cloud, Michigan (White Cloud HS), chipped in 13 kills.

Sophomore outside hitter Paige Baker of Encinitas, California (La Costa Canyon HS), totaled 12 kills.

Junior middle hitter Courtney Van Houzen of Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City HS), had 11 kills.

Hope hit .298 as a team against Adrian (6-3, 2-2 MIAA).

Senior setter Lauren Hazekamp of Fruitport, Michigan (Fruitport HS), finished with 57 assists. She came within two of the school record for a four-set match.

The Flying Dutch return to action on Friday, Sept. 25 at Saint Mary's.
