Hope Wins Sixth-Consecutive MIAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship

Hope College won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship for the sixth-consecutive season after finishing the final day of events with a total of 240 points.

Albion College senior Avery Campbell finished the 100m dash in record-breaking fashion with a time of 11.77 which is currently ranked second in the country.  The previous record of 12.10 was set in 2009.  Hope College sophomore Sara Schermerhorn's time of 11.86 as the runner-up is currently sixth in the nation.  Trine's Mackenzie Miller rounded out the top three with a time of 12.25.

Campbell also broke the MIAA record in the 200m dash with a personal-best time of 24.09 which is also second in Divison III.  The previous record of 24.52 was set in 2003.  Schermerhorn once again earned second place (24.16) and Miller third with a personal-best time of 25.33.

Trine University sophomore Abby Sanner notched a victory in the discus with a throw of 36.77m.  Sophomore Kamryn Bice of Hope was the runner-up (36.28m), followed by Calvin University junior Lindsey Kossick with a toss of 34.68m.

Senior DB Edwards of Albion won the triple jump with a personal-best 10.65m.  Junior Knight Jessye Vanden Akker earned a second-place finish with a season-best jump of 10.59m and Hope sophomore Elliana Johnson claimed third (10.57m).

Adrian College junior Ciara Heslet's person-best high jump performance of 1.66m is currently ranked 24th in the nation.  Runner-up junior Helena Snyder of Alma College also set a new personal record with a leap of 1.63m, followed by senior Bulldog Cailey Beaudoin in third place (1.60m).

Junior Flying Dutch Amanda Timonen set a personal record in the javelin with a throw of 38.07m.  Senior teammate Elisabeth Stotman was the runner-up with a toss of 37.84m and Calvin sophomore Christy Martin finished third (35.00m).

The Flying Dutch defended their title in the 4x100m relay with a season-best time of 48.18.  The winning quartet included Ava Schmidt, Catherine Leahy, Jasmine Zimmerman, and Schermerhorn.  Trine also had a season-best time (48.79) to finish second and was trailed by Albion in third with a season-best time of 48.84.

Trine sophomore Bailey Puckett set a new personal record in the 1500m run with a winning time of 4:33.01 which is currently ranked 26th in the country.  Senior Rebecca Markham of Hope was the runner-up with a personal-best time of 4:35.11, followed by classmate Olivia Quillan in third (4:38.61).

Senior Briton Nayaisha Edmond defended her championship title in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.75.  Trine sophomore Brynn Mericle finished second (15.38) and Snyder earned a personal-best time of 15.59 for third place.

Schermerhorn won the 400m run after clocking in at 58.07 and was followed shortly behind by Leahy (58.74).  Alma freshman Lauren Brawt rounded out the top three with a personal-best time of 1:00.05.

Adrian senior Emme Koutz notched a victory in the 800m run with a time of 2:14.74.  Hope freshman Amanda Markham finished second with a personal record of 2:16.99 and was trailed by Calvin newcomer Hailey Erickson in third (2:18.53).

Junior London Eldridge of Olivet earned a personal-best time of 1:04.91 to claim first place in the 400m hurdles.  The Thunder claimed the next two spots with sophomore Kristin Baker in second with a PR of 1:06.53 and Mericle in third with a season-best time of 1:07.54.

Junior Knight Jenna Allman won the 5000m run after clocking in at 17:32.58.  Sophomore teammate Sophie Bull set a new personal record in the event for second place (17:32.60), followed by Hope junior Maddy Struck in third with a time of 18:02.33.

The Flying Dutch defended their title in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:57.40.  The winning quartet included Leahy, Erin Moran, Zimmerman, and Schermerhorn.  Olivet was the runner-up with a season-best time of 4:05.62 and Alma finished third (4:08.11).
