NEW ORLEANS, La. – Evie Miller [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] of the Trine University women's track and field team has been named NCAA DIII Outdoor Women's Track and Field National Athlete of the Week by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

She becomes the first person in Trine women's track and field history to secure the National Athlete of the Week honors in the outdoor portion of the season.

Miller ran the second-fastest time in NCAA DIII history in the 3000-meter steeplechase event at the Indiana Invitational last week. She went 10:06.26 to set a new personal and school record in the event. The only time faster than hers came in 2019 from Annie Rodenfels (9:58.83).

Along with this performance in the 3000-meter steeplechase, Miller has set personal and school records in the 5000-meter run (16:26.99) and 1500-meter run (4:27.69) in the 2022 outdoor campaign.

The Thunder will be in action again this weekend at the Lancer Invitational at Grace College. That meet takes place on Friday, April 29.
