Trine's Evie Miller and Seth Ware Receive Regional Awards from USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- On May 24, Trine University's Evie Miller and Seth Ware were both recognized with Regional Athlete and Coach of the Year accolades by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the regular season.

Evie Miller, a senior at Trine, was selected the 2022 Women's Track Athlete of the Year for the Great Lakes Region.  She will compete as the top seed in the steeplechase and as the fifth seed in the 5,000m run at the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships.  The national event is scheduled for May 26-28 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

About Evie Miller

Miller, who hails from Fort Wayne, Indiana, is ranked among the top-5 seasonal performers in both the steeplechase (No. 1, 10:06.26) and 5000 meters (No. 5, 16:26.99). That mark in the steeplechase sits No. 2 in NCAA DIII history and was only Miller's second foray in the event. Miller is undefeated against NCAA DIII competition in everything above 1500 meters and netted multiple titles at both the MIAA Field Day and the Indiana DIII Outdoor Championships.

Trine's Seth Ware received the title of the 2022 Great Lakes Region's Men's Assistant Coach of the Year.

About Seth Ware

Ware, in his fourth year as assistant coach at Trine, coached the sprinters and hurdlers to combine for 89 of the Thunder's 228 points in winning the team title at the MIAA Outdoor Championships. His top pupil, Jake Gladieux, swept the 110 and 400 hurdle titles and ranked No. 1 in the region in both events.
