MIAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes Garner 33 All-Region Honors from USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- On June 22, women's outdoor track and field student-athletes from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) earned a total of 33 All-Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Assocation (USTFCCCA).

Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team.

Overall, there were 15 women’s programs that earned 20 or more All-Region honors for their efforts during the 2022 outdoor season.

Nine student-athletes from Albion College were named to the All-Great Lakes Team, followed by Calvin with four athletes and three from Trine.  Alma is represented by two All-Region honorees, while Adrian, Hope and Olivet each have one.

Trine senior Evie Miller leads the MIAA with a total of five All-Region accolades this season.  Miller concluded the year as the nation's leader in the steeplechase with a time of 10:06.26.  She is also fifth in the 5000m run (16:26.99), eighth in the 1500m run (4:27.69), tied-for-16th in the 800m run (2:11.57), and 25th in the 10,000m run (36:04.61).  Miller became a national champion in the steeplechase for the first time in her career after clocking in at 10:07.06.  She received All-America honors in two events at the 2022 National Meet.

Albion sophomore Avery Campbell took home All-Region honors for four different events.  Campbell was selected as the 2022 MIAA Most Valuable Women's Track Athlete following the conference meet.  She won both the 100m dash and the 200m dash at the 2022 MIAA Championships, while also competing in the final leg on both MIAA championship relays.

Albion's Lauren McDowell (4x100m relay, 4x400m relay), Calvin's Sadie Heeringa (1500m run, 5000m run), Hope's Ana Tucker (5000m run, 10,000m run), and Trine's Haley Livingston (100m hurdles, long jump) all earned regional recognition for two events each.
