NEW ORLEANS, La. -- 18 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women's outdoor track and field student-athletes were recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with All-Great Lakes Region accolades, including Hope sophomore Ana Tucker who was named the Great Lakes Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year.
Tucker set the only new conference record at the MIAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship this spring, clocking in at 4:32.25 in the 1500m run to earn All-MIAA honors. The sophomore will be competing in the 5000m run at the NCAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week. Tucker is currently ranked third nationally in the 5000m (16:37.99) and eighth in the 1500m (4:32.25). She is a two-time All-Region honoree this year following top-five times in the 1500m run and the 5000m run.
Trine's Valerie Obear is a three-time All-Region performer this season after turning in top-five performances in the hammer throw, the discus throw, and the shot put. Albion's Avery Campbell (100m dash, 200m dash), Calvin's Delaney Sall (400m run, 800m run), Hope's Tucker, and Trine's Evie Bultemeyer (800m run, 1500m run) are all two-time selections this year.
The top five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region’s top three relays teams.
