On Monday (July 22), the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the teams and individuals selected to their individual All-Academic and team All-Academic awards for the 2018-19 women's indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.
Five Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's track and field programs were cited for academic success: Albion, Calvin, Hope, Olivet, and Trine. Individually, the MIAA had 14 individuals garner academic accolades from the coaches organization. A total of 631 women earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2018-19 track & field seasons.
This year was the second consecutive year of honors for Albion's Cassie Vince; Calvin's Katie Diekema, Michelle Koetje, and Allison Rozell; and Hope's Emily Hamilton.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and must have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- Competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship
- Finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.
In order to be in contention for All-Academic Team honors, a program must have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA. In 2018-19, 184 women's programs were honored.
