As the final day of the 2016 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championship came to a close in Waverly, Iowa nine MIAA student-athletes had earned the right to be call All-Americans. Junior Erin Herrmann from Hope placed second in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase, which would be the highest place of any MIAA athlete in this championship.
Hope claimed five more All-American awards with senior Jane Pearson placing sixth in the Heptathlon and Dion Goliday, Boone Marois, Matt Pelyhes, and Justin Freeman comprised the 4x100 relay team that placed eighth.
Calvin's Ethan Valentine placed seventh in the 400 meters and Lauren Strohbehn third in the 10,000 meters also earning themselves All-American awards.
Sophomore Kara Eck of Trine competed in both the shot put and hammer throw over the weekend. She just missed the podium in the shot put placing ninth, but placed fifth in the hammer earning her third All-American honor in her two years of collegiate track and field.
Hope led the MIAA in scoring on the women's side placing 25th and scoring 11 points. Calvin had had six and Trine four. On the men's side Calvin finished with two points and Hope with one.
