NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Fifteen women's indoor track and field student-athletes from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) received All-Great Lakes Region accolades from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on March 5, 2024. The student-athletes totaled twenty-three All-Region honors.
Hope College is represented by eight student-athletes on the list of All-Region honorees. Sara Schermerhorn was named All-Region for three individual events: the 60m dash, the 200m dash and the 400m dash. Both Maddy Struck and top-regional performer Rebecca Markham earned All-Region accolades for the 5000m run, while Markham was also recognized for the 3000m run. Olivia Quillan also received individual recognition for the mile event. Hope was additionally recognized with All-Region accolades for both the distance medley relay (Markham, Erin Moran, Schermerhorn, and Madison Stern) and the 4 x 400m relay (Catherine Leahy, Moran, Schermerhorn, Jasmine Zimmerman).
Adrian College, Albion College, and Calvin University each had two student-athletes named to the All-Region Team.
Bulldog Cailey Bueadoin was recognized for her performance in the high jump, while Emme Koutz earned All-Region recognition in the 800m run.
Avery Campbell of Albion earned All-Region nods in two events: the 60m dash and the 200m dash. Teammate Nayaisha Edmond was also announced All-Region in the 60m hurdles.
Knights Jenna Allman and Sophie Bull were both named All-Region in the 5000m run.
Trine University's Bailey Puckett received All-Region honors in the mile run.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region on the year-end Descending Order Lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region’s top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – East, Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, South, and West – match those used during the cross country season.
