ANGOLA, Ind. -- Hope College was crowned the MIAA Women's Indoor Track and Field Champion on February 24, 2024, at Trine's Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center.  This is the fifth championship title for the Flying Dutch since 2018.  Hope finished with a total of 176 points, ahead of second-place Trine University (144 points) and third-place Calvin University (110 points).

Albion College senior Avery Campbell earned the 60m dash title in record-breaking fashion with a time of 7.68.  Former record-holder Sara Schermerhorn of Hope Colelge claimed second place with a time of 7.74, followed by Trine University junior Mackenzie Miller to round out the top three (7.85).

Sophomore Flying Dutch Sara Schermerhorn broke the record in the 400m dash with a time of 58.49.  Junior London Eldridge of The University of Olivet claimed the No. 2 spot on the podium with a time of 1:01.35, followed by Hope sophomore Catherine Leahy in third place (1:01.39).

Hope's Sara Schermerhorn broke her own record in the 200m dash after clocking in at 24.91.  Albion's Avery Campbell was the runner-up with a time of 25.58 and Trine's Mackenzie Miller finished in third place (26.17).

Trine sophomore Bailey Puckett notched a victory in the mile run with a time of 5:06.51.  Junior Knight Natalie Tebben was the runner-up with a time of 5:10.31, followed by Hope senior Olivia Quillan in third place (5:10.91).

Calvin sophomore Katie Seinen landed the pole vault in first place (3.26m).  Calvin freshman Claire Pacer and Trine sophomore each finished with a 3.10m.

Junior Bulldog Ciara Heslet tied the MIAA record in the high jump with a leap of 1.63m.  Senior teammate Cailey Beaudoin and Hope junior Allison Schram each completed the event with a 1.60m.

The Flying Dutch closed out the MIAA Championships in record-breaking fashion with a time of 4:02.20 in the 4 x 400m relay.  Olivet was the runner-up after clocking in at 4:17.48 and was trailed by Alma College in third place (4:17.99).

Trine junior Mackenzie Miller notched a victory in the long jump with a leap of 5.37m.  Sophomore teammate Emma Forker was the runner-up (5.19m), followed by Alma freshman Lauren Brawt in third place (5.15m).

Albion junior Tess Anthony completed the shot put in first place with a throw of 12.43m, earning 10 points for the Brits.  Hope junior Greta Robrahn was the runner-up (12.30m), while sophomore teammate Kamryn Bice rounded out the top three (12.10m).

The Flying Dutch defended their championship title in the distance medley relay with a time of 12:55.18.  Trine finished in second place (13:01.28), followed by Calvin in third place (13:01.66).

Junior Tess Anthony of Albion defended her title in the weight throw with a mark of 15.62m.  The Brits swept the next three spots with sophomore Leilani Casteele in second (14.15m), senior Skye Dickson in third (13.97m), and senior Ashley Booth in fourth (13.92m).

Hope senior Rebecca Markham clocked in at 10:21.86 to complete the 3000m run in first place.  Calvin junior Jenna Allman was the runner-up with a time of 10:24.46 and was trailed by Hope senior Olivia Quillan in third (10:26.35).

Senior Nayaisha Alexander Edmond defended her championship title in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.18.  Trine sophomore Brynn Mericle placed second after clocking in at 9.51 and was trailed by Calvin sophomore Mia DeJonge (9.62).

Hope senior Rebecca Markham finished the 5000m run over 20 seconds faster than the runner-up with a time of 17:40.17.  Calvin sophomore Sophie Bull claimed second place (18:00.87) and Hope junior Maddy Struck third with a time of 18:08.00.

Adrian senior Emme Koutz won the 800m run with a time of 2:16.95.  Hope senior Erin Moran finished in second place after clocking in at 2:21.28 and Calvin junior Natalie Tebben placed third (2:23.49).

Trine freshman Emmaline Leatherman won her first MIAA Championship in the triple jump with a leap of 10.51m.  Calvin senior Jessye Vanden Akker was the runner-up (10.33m) and sophomore teammate Katelyn DeJonge claimed third with a 10.10m jump.
