MIAA Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes Recognized with Twenty-Three All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Fifteen women's indoor track and field student-athletes from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) received All-Great Lakes Region accolades from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on March 7, 2023.  The student-athletes totaled twenty-three All-Region honors.  Additionally, Hope College's Mark Northuis was named the Great Lakes Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.

Hope's Ana Tucker collected four All-Region accolades this season for the mile, the 3000m run, the 5000m run, and the distance medley relay.  Tucker was the top-regional performer in all three individual events.  Teammate Sara Schermerhorn earned All-Region status in three events:  the 60m dash, the 200m dash, and the 4x400m relay).

Albion College's Megan McCulloch and Hope's Grace Behrens both received All-Region honors in two events.  McCulloch is an All-Region runner in the 3000m run and the 5000m run, while Behrens was recognized for her participation in both the distance medley relay and the 4x400m relay.

The Flying Dutch All-Region relays, including the top distance medley relay in the region, also included Ellie Jankowski (DMR), Erin Moran (4x400m relay), Madison Stern (DMR), and Julie Timperman (4x400m relay).

Trine University is represented by Emma Forker and Haley Livingston who both received All-Region recognition in the long jump.

Adrian College's Cailey Beaudoin earned All-Region accolades for the high jump, while Alma College's Ericka Bigham was recognized in the 400m dash.

Northuis, in his 35th year as assistant coach at Hope, coached the Flying Dutchmen distance runners to No. 1 Great Lakes Region rankings in four events – mile, 3000, 5000 and distance medley relay.  His crew also has depth, holding down multiple positions in the regional top-20 – 800 (three spots), mile (three), 3000 (four) and 5000 (four).

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region’s top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – East, Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, South, and West – match those used during the cross country season.
