Around the MIAA
Adrian
The Bulldogs competed in the Cedarville Collegiate Invitational Feb. 7. Adrian finished with 11 total points and a 12th place finish out of 16 teams. The Bulldogs were highlighted by Violet Smith who finished fifth in the weight throw with a distance of 14.70m.
Albion
Competing at the Dragon Grand Prix, Albion faced off against both NCAA Division II and Division III competitors. Cianna Brown was Albion's lone event winner, winning the triple jump with an effort of 10.60m. In the 60m dash, Alexis McGinley and Layla Wilks finished fourth and sixth, respectively. ShaQouria Thompson took third in the weight throw (15.84m).
Alma
Did not compete.
Calvin
The Calvin women's track and field team took sixth place at the North Central College Invitational Feb. 7 with a final team score of 43 points. Sophomore Sadie Heeringa scored in the mile run, placing sixth (5:23.17) and then claimed points in the 800 meters with a seventh place time of 2:25.01. Senior Michelle Koetje led a 2-5-8 Calvin finish in the 3,000 meter run, placing second in a time of 10:29.71. Junior Stephany Morrow continued to impress in the pole vault, taking sixth with a season-best vault of 10-2. Junior Erin Van Lenten was fourth in the long jump with a season-best leap of 16-7. In the weight throw, sophomore Waverly VerHill was sixth in the weight throw (50-2 1/2). Sophomore Tanya Visser placed second in the shot put with a career-best throw of 40-0. Calvin is back in action this coming Friday at an invitational hosted by Aquinas College.
Hope
Did not compete. Hope is back in action Friday, Feb. 14 at the Naperville Invite.
Olivet
Olivet competed at the Hillsdale "Wide Track Classic." Four Comets had personal-best performances. Those included sophomore Hailei Manthei in the weight throw (42 feet, 4-1/4 inches). Sophomore Kaylee Richardson had PRs in the 800-meter run (2:45.89) and mile run (5:48.81).
Trine
Competed in the unscored Hillsdale College Wide Track Classic...Evie Bultemeyer finished second in the 800-meter championship race (2:13.43) and then teamed up with Stephanie Hartpence, Chloe Brittain and Elizabeth Lohman to win the DMR (12:18.83)...Hartpence led the field events for Trine with an 11th-place effort in the high jump with a height of 4' 9.75."
