Around the MIAA

Adrian

The Bulldogs competed in the IWU Midwest Classic hosted by Indiana Wesleyan. Adrian showed one top-5 finish with Brittney Carnagie placing fourth in the 60m hurdles. The track and field team return to action on Friday, February 7 at the Cedarville Collegiate Invitational in Cedarville, Ohio.


Albion

Albion finished third at the Dr. T. conference challenge Feb. 1 in Berea, Ohio. Three Briton men won their events: Adam Ditri in the 3000m run, Xavier Aikens in the weight throw, and Cullen Cox in the 400m. 


Alma

The track and field team competed at Aquinas on Friday (Jan. 31) finishing in third place out of six teams on the day. Stephanie Davis (Elmira, Mich.) set a new program record in the women's 600 meter run with a time of 1:51.85. 


Calvin

The Calvin women's indoor track and field team competed at the Mike Lints Alumni Invitational on Saturday on the campus of Grand Valley State University. Senior Michelle Koetje led the way by winning the 5,000 meter run in a time of 18:30.19. That time ranks 14th in the Great Lakes Region this winter and is the top time by an MIAA runner. In the field events, Calvin had a strong showing in the long jump led by junior Erin Van Lenten who placed sixth with a leap of 16-5 3/4 with freshman Onyiniyechi Iheme 11th (15-9) and senior Allison Rozell 14th (15-4 3/4). Calvin returns to action next Saturday when it competes at the North Central Open in Naperville, Illinois.


Hope

In a down-to-the-final event finish, the Hope College women's indoor track and field edged host Aquinas College for first place in a nine-team meet by one point on Friday in Grand Rapids, Mich. The Flying Dutch totaled 190 points while recording the top performances in six different events. Mitchel Achien'g (Nairobi, Kenya) won two events. Achien'g led a group of four Hope finishers in the 200 meters in 27.23 seconds. Seven Hope runners placed in the top eight in the 3,000 meters, including senior Rebecca Duran (Palatine, Ill.) with a first-place run of 11:14.19. Junior Jacinda Cole (Holland, Mich.) topped a group of five Hope 1-mile runners in the top six with a time of 5:25.85. Freshman Lilly Tripp (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) clocked a winning 800-meter time of 2:27.43.


Olivet

Olivet participated in the GVSU Mike Lints Alumni Open. Sophomore Kaylee Richardson ran the 3000-meter run in a personal-best time of 11:32.54. Sophomore Madison Dexter had a PR in the 200-meter dash at 28.81 seconds. Three other Comets had season-best performances.


Trine

Competed a the unscored GVSU Mike Lints Alumni Open...Evie Bultemeyer captured the 3000-meter run in a school-record time of 10:00.81...she broke her own record by over 30 seconds (10:33.70)...Valerie Obear led the Trine field event athletes with a fourth-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 54' 7.50."
