All-MIAA - Women's Tennis - 2024

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- At the conclusion of the 2024 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women's tennis regular season, head coaches from nine of the MIAA's member institutions that sponsor women's tennis voted on All-MIAA awards.

Hope College sophomore Amanda Lopykinski was voted the 2024 MIAA Most Valuable Player after leading the Flying Dutch to the regular-season title with an unblemished record of 8-0.  Lopykinski went 7-1 in conference matches at No. 1 singles and undefeated (7-0) at No. 1 doubles with partner Sullivan Moran.  She became a two-time All-MIAA honoree this season with a spot on the First Team and was named the MIAA Women's Tennis Athlete of the week three times.

Jada Zerlaut, a senior at Alma College, received the Sue Little Award.  This honor is given in memory of Sue Little, a 1954 graduate of Albion College and conference singles champion.  The winner of this award is selected by the tennis players as best exemplifying courtesy and sportsmanship both on and off the courts.

"Jada is a fantastic person and always comes to practice with a smile on her face and ready to cheer on her teammates no matter how busy she is," commented Alma head coach Jared Guy.  "She represents Alma in the best way and I'm very excited to see her win this award.

Kalamazoo College senior captain Maddie Hurley was selected as the recipient of the 2024 Karen Caine Award.  This scholar-athlete honor is named after Karen Caine, former long-term women's tennis coach at Adrian College.

Hurley is a standout both on the court and in the classroom.  As a Biochemistry Major, Hurley boasts a grade-point average of 3.93.  On campus, Hurley is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, a Sisters in Science member, and president of Kalamazoo's Food Recovery.  Hurley received the 2024 Kalamazoo Senior Leadership Award and studied abroad her junior year as a Biology TA in Aberdeen, Scotland.  After graduation, Hurley will begin her PhD in Chemical Biology at the University of Illinois.  On the court, Hurley has started all four years in singles and doubles while amassing a 20-7 MIAA singles record and a 24-6 conference doubles record.  She has won five or more league matches in singles and doubles each year of her career.  Hurley is a four-time ITA Scholar Athlete, and a three- (potentially four-) time member of the MIAA Honor Roll.

Hope's Sullivan Moran and Annika Weeber, along with Saint Mary's College's Alayna Campbell, are all three-time All-MIAA honorees.  Lopykinski and Calvin University's Tessa Holman are receiving all-conference accolades for the second time in their careers.
